Cadillac expects one of every three vehicle sales to be EVs in 2025

San Francisco-Cadillac hopes that one in three vehicles that sells in the US. This year will be fully electric models, since the car manufacturer continues to expand its alignment of EV despite the adoption of vehicles of vehicles of the entire industry despite the industry.

The luxury brand of General Motors is expected to offer five electric vehicles for the end of this year, including its recently launched Crossover of Entrance level of Escalade and Optiq. They join the Cadillac Lyriq, which will be followed later in the year by the three -row crossover of three rows and the auto Celestiq tailored to $ 300,000 more than $ 300,000.

“The impulse is really there,” said Brad Franz, Marketing Director at Cadillac, to CNBC. “We are going to set up that impulse and we are not launching the vehicles to redistribute the business between [internal combustion engines] and EV portfolio. It is to grow the business. “

Cadillac is aimed at EVs to represent between 30% and 35% of its total national sales in 2025, Franz said. That would be a notable increase of 18% of US sales, or 29,072 vehicles, in 2024.

The EVs represented 8.1% of the approximately 16 million vehicles sold last year in the United States, according to Cox Automotive. That was lower than 10% analysts who expected to start the year.

The additional increase in EVs and the increase in expected sales follow Cadillac walking plans to exclusively offer fully electric vehicles by 2030. Instead, the company said that the elimination of vehicles with gasoline will be determined by customer demand, but that it would still offer a complete alignment of EV.

Cadillac is one of several brands to leave the plans to sell exclusively EV in the coming years, since the adoption of the consumer of the vehicles has not happened as fast as expected above. There is also a growing concern for EV sales in the midst of federal lack of federal support Donald Trump for vehicles.

“Our EV portfolio will complement our gas energy side of the portfolio and bring new customers to the brand,” Franz said during a media event to launch the IQ and Optiq scale. “It is our commitment to the choice and offer those clients the choice.”

American sales of Cadillac last year increased 8.8%, led by more than tripling Lyriq sales, which went on sale at the end of 2022.

The IQ of Escalade, which includes a larger “L” version, and Optiq are important new “Bookend” vehicles for the car manufacturer, whose objective is to be the best -selling EV mark in the country. The company does not include Tesla, which is the best selling ev.

“Optiq and Escalade IQ will increase very fast,” Franz said. “We are taking everything that Escalade means today in the market and now we offer it as an EV halo that customers will recognize and trust.”

The IQ of Escalade, which begins at approximately $ 130,000, is the largest fully electric SUV offered by any car manufacturer. It is ready to test the large SUV market for electric vehicles, while expanding alignment of the best known and highly profitable vehicle of Cadillac. The vehicle presents design signals similar to the other EVs of Cadillac, as well as the climb with gasoline.

The Optiq will act as the EV of “Gateway” entry level, starting at approximately $ 55,000, approximately $ 4,000 less than the largest Lyriq. It enters an increasingly competitive electric crossover segment, which is currently led by Lyriq.

The Optiq will also debut a new association with Dolby Laboratories for “ATMOS” of the audio company, an enveloping sound technology that initially debuted for cinemas. The system will grow through the alignment of Cadillac.

Cadillac expects Lyriq, produced in Tennessee, will continue to be its best selling EV despite the fact that Optiq is less expensive, Franz said.

The optiq is taking place in one of the GM plants in Mexico. Franz refused to comment on how the possible 25% tariffs are expected to threaten Trump in Mexico’s vehicles impact vehicle sales.
