A collision between a bus and the minibus in Tanzania killed 38 people after the accident caught fire in both vehicles, the presidency said on Sunday.
The accident in Sabasaba, in the Kilimanjaro region, on Saturday night it occurred after one of the bus tires perforated, which caused the driver to lose control.
“A total of 38 people died in the accident, including two women,” said a presidency statement, added that another 28 were injured.
“However, due to the extension of burns, 36 bodies remain unidentified,” said the presidency.
Six of the injured were still in the hospital to receive treatment, he added.
Mortal accidents are frequent on Tanzania’s roads.
In a 2018 report, the World Health Organization estimated that 13,000 to 19,000 people in Tanzania were killed in traffic accidents in 2016, much higher than the official cost of the government of 3,256.
