A Burnaby Spa employee who provided assumptions assumptions of vaginal adjustment has been convicted of the seven positions of sexual assault by a jury of the BC Supreme Court.
Farshad Khojsteh Kashani was first accused in 2022 after two Fab Skin Care clients complained to the police of being sexually attacked during treatments. After the police said there could be more victims, five more women appeared.
The seven plaintiffs testified during the trial. Three of the women had a group, from the online market that offers offers and discounts, for the procedure. The other four had been in the clinic for different aesthetic procedures previously.
Crown prosecutors said Khojsteh Kashani sexually assaulted each of the seven plaintiffs during the procedure, which means that he touched them sexually, arguing that women were vulnerable due to the nature of the procedure and because they saw Khojsteh Kashani as a trained medical professional.
Khojsteh Kashani’s defense argued that the version of the events of the plaintiffs was “illogical” and that he would not have risk sexually assaulting women because he imposed on his career, marriage and efforts to move to Canada.
A biography on the FAB Skin Care website said Khojsteh Kashani worked as a general practitioner in Iran for more than five years, performing “several types of cosmetic and aesthetic treatments.”
The court heard that Khojsteh Kashani went to the School of Medicine in Iran for seven years. He immigrated under the scheduled workers in 2011 and began working at the SPA in 2017 to reach the end of the month while trying to recognize his Iranian medical title in Canada.
Khojsteh Kashani has never been registered as a doctor in the province, according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the Faculty of BC.
When the charges were announced for the first time in 2022, Fraser Health issued a public alert that urged anyone who has received vaginal treatments of high intensity of FAB skin care to be tested immediately by sexually transmitted infections.
“… This business did not provide these services through a registered health professional and was not using appropriate infections control measures while providing these services,” said the alert.
Khojsteh Kashani’s bond has been revoked, and a bail hearing is scheduled for Friday at the BC Supreme Court in Vancouver. A sentence hearing date has not been established.
