A body was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines plane after landing in Maui.
The discovery was made Tuesday after the Boeing 787-10 arrived at Kahului Airport, United said in a statement. The Christmas Eve flight took off from a Chicago airport.
The body was in the wheel well of one of the main landing gears. United said the area where the body was found can only be accessed from outside the plane.
It is unclear how or when the person gained access to the wheel, the airline said, noting that it is working with authorities. No further details were immediately available.
The Maui Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday. Authorities told Hawaii News Now the department was investigating.
