The National Party of Baluchistan, Mengal (BNP-M), continued during its seventh day in Mastung as head of the party, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, on Thursday announced three demands during his protest against the recent arrests of correct activists.
The BNP-M had announced a “long march” of Wadh to Quetta last Friday to protest against the arrests of the leaders and activists of the Balochjehti (Byc) committee, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sammi Deen Baloch, as well as the police shaking in his sitting in Quetta. Sammi was released on Tuesday.
A day before, Mengal announced that he would announce new demonstrations on Thursday (today) as conversations with a government delegation were not fruit. To the seated, which is currently in Lakpass, is being treated for the leadership of BNP-M, political and tribal leaders, and the families of missing people. The PTI and its allied of the Sunita Ittehad council also expressed solidarity with the BNP-M.
When addressing the seated this morning, Mengal said: “The Government can continue to use force according to their wishes, but will be responsible for the consequences.
“Despite the end of the second round of conversations with the government’s negotiation team, the point of the dead person persists,” he said.
The BNP-M chief said that the party has three demands: “either to free all the prisoners of the byc, including women, or then let’s go to Quetta, where we can celebrate a peaceful sitting there. Or then arrest ourselves.”
Mengal said that these demands were presented to the delegation of the Provincial Government that Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Ubaidullah Gorgage, as well as the Secretary Chief of Interior Additional Zahid Salem and Kalat’s commissioner.
“There are no more than this, nor is there another option,” Mengal said. “We have filed our clear demands to the government from day one.”
Mengal said the Government delegation had asked for more time to consult after the second round of conversations. “The dead point persists despite looking for two more days for consultation, which ends tonight.”
He added: “If all prisoners, including women, are not released, we will march towards Quetta.”
BNP-M central leader and former senator said Dawn.com that all national roads were closed due to government incompetence.
“BNP has maintained its sitting on one side of the Mastung National Highway. However, the Government has closed all the major and minor roads that lead to Quetta, including the Lakpass tunnel, Mastung and Kolpur.
“The Baluchistan government is the only government in the world that closes its paths and causes disadvantages to its people,” he said.
He pointed out that after the government stopped the long march, the number of participants in the sitting increased instead of decreasing because people wanted the recovery of their loved ones, so they joined the seated in mass.
The BNP-M leader expressed his hope that he would reduce Baloch women and children, but will play their role in the recovery of missing people.
“Sardar Akhtar Mengal is the only leader who is fighting a peaceful political struggle,” he said.
Baloch pointed out that due to the closure of mobile networks and the Internet in different areas of Quetta, not only people faced difficulties, but the situation would get worse.
Quetta’s land connection with 12 other districts in Baluchistan has been cut during the last seven days due to the closure of the roads, including the National Highway of Quetta-Karachi, since the administration has dug ditches in Lakpass and the surrounding roads.
