Quetta: The Central Secretary of Information of the National Party of Baluchistan (BNP), Hassan Agha, has condemned the alleged kidnapping of his colleague Dr. Abdul Majeed Mengal.
Agha said the party had faced this situation since 2012.
While heading to a press conference on Tuesday, Agha said that if the State and the Government cannot tolerate BNP’s peaceful political struggle, they should officially prohibit the party instead of “harassing our leaders and their families with false and without foundation charges.”
He accused state institutions of using intimidation tactics to weaken the party and said the strategies “would not succeed.”
He also criticized the arrest of the leader of the Baloch Jakjehti committee, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and his colleagues.
Agha cited the government’s decision to prevent BNP chief from Sardar Akhtar Mengal, trip abroad to receive medical treatment as part of a “directed campaign” against the party.
He said that BNP has always advocated, through democratic media, for Baluchistan’s rights and resources.
Agha accused the federal government of “worsening the situation” in Baluchistan through “electoral manipulation” instead of solving the problems of the province.
He made the current government responsible for the “objective murder of BNP workers” and the arrest of activist women.
“A government that cannot protect the dignity of its own mothers and sisters and is afraid that the banner of a political party has no right to govern,” he said, added that BNP would continue to fight for justice and rights.
