The Seattle Mariners defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 to capture Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.

The Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in the opening game of the American League Championship Series.

Cal Raleigh hit a game-tying home run in the sixth inning and Jorge Polanco drove in two runs.

George Springer hit a leadoff home run for the Blue Jays.

Toronto starter Kevin Gausman retired 15 batters in a row before giving up the solo shot to Raleigh.

The second game will be played Monday afternoon at the Rogers Centre.

The best-of-seven series will move to T-Mobile Park in Seattle for Game 3 on Wednesday.
