NEW DELHI: AAPA Supremacy Arvind Kejriwal on Monday made a big claim ahead of the Delhi elections, accusing BJP of mixing poison in the water coming to Delhi from Haryana.
“The BJP government is mixing poison in the water coming from Haryana,” Kejriwal said. Further attacking the BJP, he also said, “The country has never seen such dirty politics till date. If the people of Delhi do not vote for BJP, will it kill the people of Delhi by giving them water laced with poison?”
When I made the claims, he assured that he will not let this alleged mixture affect the people of Delhi. “I want to tell the people of Delhi that as long as Kejriwal is there, I will not let any harm come to the people of Delhi,” he said while calling on BJP not to “bow so low”.
Praising Jal board engineers for identifying the problem and stopping the water at the border. Kejriwal added that if “this water had reached Delhi and mixed with drinking water, I don’t know how many people Delhi would have died, this would have been a mass genocide.” Giving more details about the allegations, the former Delhi CM claimed that “it is a bit poisonous that even Delhi’s water treatment plants cannot clean. Due to this, there is water shortage in one-third of Delhi.”
Haryana Minister Anil Vij responded to Kejriwal denying the claims and handed the blame back to him. “Arvind Kejriwal is a lie factory…take all the journalists and analysts to the place where Yamuna enters Delhi and check the water quality, and then check the water quality in Delhi. They saw the difference,” said Labor Minister of Haryans.
Going up further to the AAAP chief, he added: “It is not our job to clean the river in Delhi, it was Arvind Kejriwal’s job, which he could not do.”
This comes amid reports that the Election Commission of India was notified today through a formal representation of the Chief Ministers of Delhi and Punjab regarding elevated levels of ammonia in water supplied from Haryana to Delhi. The problem has reportedly disrupted Delhi’s water distribution system. The Commission directed the Haryana authorities to submit a detailed objective assessment of the situation by 12 noon tomorrow.
