The former president of the United States, Joe Biden, in his first important speech since he left the White House, criticized Tuesday against the frantic revision of the successor Government Donald Trump, claiming that the effort of “ax” puts at risk the retirement benefits of the Americans.
“Less than 100 days, this administration has caused so much damage and so much destruction, it is a bit impressive that it could happen soon,” Biden told a conference of disability defenders in Chicago.
“They have taken an ax to the Social Security Administration, pushing 7,000 employees by the door,” said the former president, referring to the National Agency that pays the retirement and disability benefits.
Using a blue suit and tie, and standing in front of the American flags, the 82 -year -old Democrat spoke for about half an hour, sometimes showing the signs of aging that led him to leave his re -election campaign last year.
He ran into some prayers while reading a teleprompter and struggled to overcome anecdotes outside the spur, cutting with a favorite phrase, “anyway.”
President Trump, in a soap in Biden, published a brief video on the social networks of one of the rambling anecdotes, without comments.
The choice of the Biden issue, Social Security, aimed to increase Trump pressure on its government review efforts.
He highlighted the reductions of staff in the agency that Trump and his billionaire assistant Elon Musk have pressed as part of their “government efficiency department”, saying that the “Social Security website is being starred” and preventing retirees from obtaining their benefits.
The program, in which more than 65 million Americans trust, is colloquially known in Washington as the “third railway railway” for its sensitivity to voters.
Many Americans “literally have Social Security to buy food, just to survive,” said Biden, and “many of these beneficiaries, are their only income. If they were reduced or removed, it would be devastating, devastating for millions of people.”
He hit Trump’s Secretary of Commerce, former coverage fund manager Howard Lutnick, for a recent comment in which he said that “the scammers” would complain about a lost check, but not his mother -in -law.
Biden mocked that characterization, saying: “What happens to the 94 -year -old mother who lives alone: who does not have a billionaire in the family?”
