Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to amend the motor vehicle law to increase traffic rape fines and prohibit four -seater rickshaws.
After the amendments, the incorrect driving will cost a RS100,000 car driver and RS25,000 motorcyclist.
The decision of this effect was taken at a meeting, chaired by Interior Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar, to discuss amendments to the rules of motor vehicles.
The meeting, attended among others by the Minister of Special Taxes, Mikesh Kumar Chawla, Secretary of Law, Secretary of Transportation and Traffic DIG, also approved the mandatory certification of physical aptitude for commercial and non -commercial vehicles, subcontracting the evaluations of physical conditioning of vehicles to third parties and a prohibition of the sale of paper car dyes, elegant lights and sirens online or in stores.
For incorrect driving, approved fines are established in RS200,000 for government vehicles, RS100,000 for other four -wheeled vehicles and RS25,000 for motorcycles.
Driving a vehicle without a valid license will cost a fine of RS25,000 for motorcyclists and RS50,000 for car drivers. A single wheel or drift will result in a fine of RS100,000 for a crime for the first time, rising to RS200,000 and RS300,000 for repeated violations.
These decisions were made in the backdrop of an increase in traffic accidents, particularly involving the dumpers and oil tankers who killed almost 500 people and wounded 4,879 in 2024.
The meeting approved legal amendments to enforce a complete prohibition of four -seater Rickshaws with the Minister of Special Taxes ensuring the total support of the Special Tax Department to enforce traffic regulations.
He assured the meeting that registration permits or route for four -seater or larger rickshaws would be issued, since there have been many accidents because the Rickshaws collide with trucks.
The Minister of Special Taxes also said that a repression would be launched against any vehicle that is operating on the roads. He promised a rapid completion of the structure of the vehicle’s physical conditioning service and said that a strict application of physical conditioning requirements would follow.
He said it would be mandatory for tankers and water dumperadores to install tracker and sensors.
It was decided that an integral draft of the new regulations to the Sindh Government for approval and ratification would be prepared and presented.
The Interior Minister said that only a Rickshaws of plus two two on the roads would be allowed to reduce the congestion of traffic, accidents and violations of the rules.
The meeting also approved the mandatory installation of at least five cameras in heavy vehicles.
It was also decided that e-challans for traffic violations would be delivered to the registered directions of vehicle owners. Vehicles with unpaid fines will not be allowed to be sold or transferred.
Lanjar also said that traffic, transport and special tax systems would be interconnected and moved online, and announced the appointment of a traffic magistrate dedicated to handle cases of crimes of the traffic law.
