Balochistan to unveil social media policy soon: CM – Pakistan

Quetta: Baluchistan’s prime minister Sarfraz Bugti said on Saturday the provincial government that has prepared the first social media policy, which will present soon.

CM Bugti revealed this during a meeting with influential people on social networks. He urged young people to play their role in portraying a positive image of Baluchistan and asked the influential to promote social harmony and national unity.

He emphasized the undeniable power of social networks in the modern era and highlighted the urgent need to guide young people in the right direction.

“In today’s world, the influence of social networks cannot be ignored. It can serve as a tool for progress or a weapon for wrong information,” he said.

The prime minister acknowledged that, although social networks provided a platform for responsibility and constructive criticisms, he also had the potential to deceive young minds.

“We will appreciate the positive criticisms and use it to strengthen our reform process,” he said, adding that the governance defects indicated on digital platforms would be addressed in a productive way.

He assured the influencers of social networks that his concerns and suggestions of other users of social networks would be examined and incorporated into the next social media policy. The Government promised to offer opportunities in employment, education and consciousness for young people, and aimed to use social networks to amplify these efforts, he said.

“Our goal is to block the path of negative propaganda and turn social networks into an improvement tool,” said CM Bugti. He stressed the importance of the formulation of policies that was aligned with the demands of the digital era.
