Quetta: Baluchistan finance minister, Mir Shoaib Noshherwani, will present the provincial budget for fiscal year 2025-26 on Tuesday (tomorrow), with the total disbursement of the surplus budget that exceeds the RS1 billion.
According to the Prize of the National Finance Commission (NFC), Baluchistan will receive RS743 billion federal income, mainly distributed through the divisible taxes of the pool and the direct transfers of natural resources, including gas.
Officials expect the province to receive an additional RS70 billion in federal funds.
Meanwhile, it is estimated that Baluchistan’s own income, generated through provincial taxes and sources that are not tax exceeds RS150 billion.
It is expected that the expense not of development for next year exceeds RS700bn, while more than RS240bn can be used for the province’s own resources for development. It is likely that substantial funds are assigned to key sectors, including education, law and order, health, infrastructure and agriculture.
It is expected that more than RS160bn go to the education sector, more than RS100BN to the law and order, and around RS80bn to health services.
It is likely that the wages of government employees in Baluchistan increase in line with the announcement of the federal government. Provincial employees have been protesting in recent weeks to demand a salary increase and other benefits.
