Quetta: The Department of Contra-Terrorism (CTD) of the Baluchistan Police fruscó a large terrorist plot on Saturday, recovering a large cache of explosives, weapons and ammunition of an area in Sariab Road.
According to a CTD spokesman, the intelligence -based operation was carried out by CTD Quetta in the vicinity of the Pakistan radio Tower.
During the operation, the officials recovered an improvised explosive device of 20 kg equipped with a remote detonation mechanism, together with 50 kg of high -grade explosive material buried under earth.
In addition, five hand grenades and three 9 mm guns with living ammunition of the site were seized. All explosives and weapons were insured without incident.
“Acting on confirmed intelligence with respect to a possible sabotage attempt aimed at critical infrastructure, the CTD launched a quick and coordinated operation,” said the spokesman. A combed search was carried out with the support of the pump removal unit.
However, there were no arrests during the operation, since no suspects were found on the scene.
A FIR has been registered at the CTD Quetta police station under the relevant provisions of the anti -terrorism law.
The forensic analysis of the recovered material is in progress, while the intelligence -based monitoring operations are underway to identify and stop those involved in the frustrated plot.
