‘Bagula Bhagat’: BJP criticises Kejriwal over allowance scheme for priests, says AAP lost its ‘credibility’ | India News

NEW DELHI: Calling on Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal”Bagula Bhagat“, the BJP on Wednesday criticized the AAP and said it has lost its “credibility” by following “the same old Congress policy”.
Regarding Kejriwal’s election promise of providing monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 to temple priests and gurudwara granthis, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that the AAP represents “unreliability” in Indian politics, suggesting that Delhi residents have understood their tactics.
“In today’s politics, the biggest challenge for all political parties was the credibility crisis. Public perception has developed that politicians say one thing and do something completely different. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Party Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and NDA have changed this mindset. We have established authenticity in politics, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) represents the other extreme. They say one thing but never do it. that Arvind Kejriwal and AAP had promised, and what is the reality,” Trivedi said.
He enumerated the list of promises made by Kejriwal’s party, such as the solution of hanging electric cables, 24-hour drinking water, a working-class education system, improved medical treatment, a pollution-free environment and safety for women. And then the BJP spokesperson said that he has not fulfilled any promise yet.
“The issue today is that even after 10 years in power, even during his government in 2013, the situation in Delhi is that on July 23, 2024, a 26-year-old youth was a victim of these hanging wires. Second place, They claimed that they would provide drinking water 24 hours a day. But when the summer heat arrived, people saw chaos in the northwestern and outer regions of Delhi regarding water supply. Journalists also went. and they reported it. I don’t believe the words of the politicians or their workers. The water that people were forced to use was so dirty that it caused immense discomfort. Thirdly, they promised a world-class education system. Remember, Kejriwal himself had said that it was so. It is very difficult to publish an article in the largest newspaper in the world. The New York Times. However, the truth is that the Delhi High Court reprimanded the education system, expressing its displeasure over several issues,” Shudhanshu Trivedi said.

“They then promised to improve medical treatment. The reality during the COVID crisis was total chaos, with the government more focused on publicity than addressing the health crisis. Corruption in mohalla clinics also came to light, with a case in which 539 people were supposedly treated in just 4 hours, which was impossible. They also promised a pollution-free environment But the current situation, especially during the winter season, speaks for itself. pollution in Delhi are worse than Kejriwal’s health seems to have deteriorated because of this. They then promised to remove the mountains of garbage, but today the height of these piles of garbage is increasing, even near Qutub Minar, and has reportedly reached 8 meters in some. areas.
Regarding Kejriwal’s subsidy scheme for priests and gurudwara granthis, Trivedi questioned why the implementation was not immediate, given the current AAP government in Delhi.
“You must have heard about ‘bagula bhagat’. There is a ‘bhakt’ (devotee) and there is a ‘bagula bhagat’ (pretentious devotee)… You must implement it,” he told reporters.
Trivedi also raised questions about Kejriwal’s earlier opposition to temples and the Ram temple, contrasting it with his current initiative to register potential beneficiaries of the scheme.
“You should implement it. You (AAP) are still in power, you are not a party aspiring to power,” Trivedi added.
The BJP spokesperson listed 10 alleged shortcomings of the AAP government in Delhi, including unfulfilled promises to remove dangerous electrical wiring, provide continuous supply of clean water and establish world-class education.
It cited additional failures, including Delhi’s pollution control, cleaning of the Yamuna River, improvements in healthcare, waste management, women’s safety, colony infrastructure and permanent housing for Delhi residents. the marginal neighborhoods.
“They did not do these things. AAP convener Kejriwal, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and other party members have been arrested in connection with several corruption cases,” the BJP leader said.
Trivedi concluded: “This is not a new policy, but the same old Congress policy” that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has been pursuing. “There was a super prime minister during the Congress-led UPA regime; here we have a super CM in the AAP government,” he said, apparently referring to former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the chief minister of Delhi, Atishi.
