• Caa now wants to redesign the complete scheme after 50 percent work is completed, says Sharjeel
• Announces the early completion of the yellow line
Karachi: For the karachiites who have been waiting for a long time to an affordable and reliable transport, there is bad news: the completion of the red line of the rapid transit of the bus (BRT) can take two more years to complete thanks to the objections raised by certain interested parties, including the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Hundreds of thousands of travelers traveling through University Road will continue to support the difficulties during their trips on damaged and broken roads up to at least December 2026. The BRT multimillionaire project is underway during the last three years.
The bad news was shared by the Minister of Senior Transportation, Sharjeel Inam Memon, who was visibly annoying when he mentioned the demands of the CAA and told journalists that he did not believe that the BRT Red Line project could be completed in December 2026.
“There are several problems that are needed to be solved. We had December 2026 as a goal in our mind [to complete the project]. But it seems quite difficult and I don’t think it’s ready by then, ”he told reporters during his visit to the construction site of the Yellow BRT line.
He blamed public services, including Power, Gas and Telecom, which are being operated by the Government and private companies, saying that they were taking too much time to move their infrastructure.
He said that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had issued a noc [no objection certificate]But now he had raised objections in one of the three components of the structures that could cause more delays in the construction of the structure of the red line.
“Drainage is one of the components. They had reviewed the design, discussed it with our team and then issued a NOC. Now, after having worked almost 50 percent on that particular issue, they [CAA] We have raised objections and ask us to redesign the entire scheme. Is that any kind of joke? Things don’t move like this, ”he said.
‘Yellow line will be completed in May’
Regarding the yellow line, Memon said the Sindh government was working tirelessly to provide maximum facilities to the public.
The BRT project of the Yellow Line was originally scheduled for completion in September 2025, but now it will be completed in May 2025, five months before its calendar, he said.
The yellow line bus will work from Dawood Chowrangi/Korangi 8000 Road to Shahrah-I-Qaideen to Numaish intersection.
“CM Murad Ali Shah has issued directives to complete the first clues at a faster rate. So, once the problems of these public services are solved, the development would occur at an amazing rate, ”said the minister.
The consultants gave a detailed information session to the minister on the project, informing him about his progress, obstacles and expected completion time.
Responding to a consultation on Green Line, he assured that the rates would not increase, but additional facilities would be introduced to provide better transport services to the public. Speaking about the acquisition of buses, Memon urged the prime minister to fulfill his promise to provide 180 buses for Karachi, emphasizing that it is the right of the citizens of Karachi.
He said the prime minister should guarantee better transport facilities for the people of Karachi.
Regarding special initiatives for women, he said that pink scooters were provided to working women for free.
He said that a pink taxi service would soon be launched to offer safe and comfortable trips to women.
