New Delhi: el Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Terth Kshetra Trust He has paid around RS 400 million rupees in government taxes in the last five years, the Secretary of Trust Champat Rai said on Sunday. He said the amount was paid between February 5, 2020 and February 5, 2025.
Of the total amount, RS 270 million rupees was paid as a tax and services tax (GST), while RS 130 million rupees was paid under other tax categories, he said.
Rai mentioned that Ayodhya has seen a significant increase in the number of devotees and tourists, which leads to more employment opportunities for the premises. He added that during Maha Kumbh, 1.26 million devotees visited Ayodhya.
In the last year, Ayodhya registered 16 million visitors, with 5 million rupees visiting the Ram Temple.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Terth Kshetra Trust was formed in 2020 to supervise the construction of RAM Mandir in Ayodhya, after the verdict of the Supreme Court in 2019 that raided the way for the construction of the temple.
Ram Mandir’s consecration (Pran Pran) took place on January 22, 2024, with Prime Minister Narendra modi leading the rituals. The event was attended by religious leaders, political figures and dignitaries throughout India.
The temple, built on the site that is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, has become an important religious and cultural milestone, attracting millions of devotees.
The financial records of the trust are regularly audited by officials of the Comptroller and General Auditor (CAG), RAI said.
