The New Delhi Civil Aviation Regulator has ordered Air India to withdraw three officials from their roles about “systemic failures”, according to a directive seen by AFP On Saturday, when the carrier looks under the scrutiny after a fatal accident.
The instruction of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) did not detail whether it was linked to the June 12 accident in Ahmedabad, which killed all except one of the 242 people on board. At least another 38 on the ground were killed.
The DGCA Directive said that the voluntary revelations of the airline “point to systemic failures in the programming of the crew, compliance monitoring and internal responsibility.”
“Of particular concern is the absence of strict disciplinary measures against key officials directly responsible for these operational failures,” said the order, which was issued on Friday.
“These officials have been involved in serious and repeated lapses,” he said.
The regulator has ordered Air India to eliminate three officials appointed in the order “of all the roles and responsibilities related to the programming of the crew”, take disciplinary measures and report on the steps taken within 10 days.
Future violations could also result in a “license suspension.”
The airline said on Saturday that the order had implemented.
“Air India undertakes to ensure that there is total compliance with security protocols and standard practices,” he said in a statement.
The researchers try to find out what caused the plane to the airline to turn to the ground moments after takeoff in Ahmedabad.
Air India said Thursday that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane was “well maintained” and that the pilots achieved flyers.
The voice recorder of the cabin and the flight data recorder have recovered from the lock site.
