Albuquerque, New Mexico – The federal authorities are investigating a fire at dawn on Sunday that damaged the entrance to the headquarters of the Republican Party of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
The agents who work with the local authorities recovered “incendiary materials” not specified in the scene, said Monday of the Tobacco alcohol, firearms and explosives. He refused to say what the materials were or share more details.
The fire follows numerous acts of vandalism in recent weeks directed against Tesla, the electric car company whose owner, Elon Musk, has led the effort of Republican President Donald Trump to reduce the federal workforce. Several of these cases involved Molotov cocktails that were used to start fires in the concessionaires. The United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, has called it a “wave of domestic terrorism.”
Property attacks that transport the Elon Musk electric car logo are emerging throughout the United States and abroad. Although no injuries have been reported, Tesla exhibition rooms, vehicle lots, load stations and private property cars have been directed.
The firefighters responded to the fire just before 6 am and put it under control in about five minutes, according to Lieutenant Jason Fejer with Albuquerque Fire Rescue.
The building was unemployed and no one was injured. But the fire seriously burned the entrance and caused extended smoke damage throughout the office, where three people work full time, according to the representatives of the Fejer party and the Republican party.
A photo provided by representatives of the Republican Party showed the carbonized entrance of the building with wood and burned insulation pieces scattered on the ground. A broken and burned door was placed aside.
The security system of the Republican party office detected the fire, said the president of the Republican Party of New Mexico, Amy Barela. She accredited firefighters who quickly turned off the flames and prevented the fire from spreading.
The mayor of Albuquerque, Tim Keller, called Arson a cowardly act.
“The crimes of any politically motivated are unacceptable, and I am grateful to our fire department for their rapid response,” said Mayor, Democrat, in a statement on Sunday afternoon. “This incident is being investigated at the federal level, and urges anyone with information to inform immediately.”
Barela said that the representatives of the Republican party also found spray paint on the side of the building about 50 feet from the entrance, saying “ice = kkk”. On Monday, ATF spokesman declined to comment on graffiti.
The FBI agents were also on stage investigating, according to Fejer. FBI representatives could not be contacted immediately to comment.
