Sydney – a dead surfer is feared after being attacked by a shark in shallow waters in a remote beach in Western Australia, police said Tuesday.
A 30 -year -old man from Melbourne was reported as missing on Monday after the witnesses saw a fight and heard shouts in Wharton Beach, a remote area to about 500 miles from the state capital, Perth.
Later a surfboard was recovered with beach bite marks.
Police believe that the man was killed during the attack after not being able to locate his body.
“The family has been notified. I suspect that it will be a recovery of an agency if we can find it, ”said the Blanch Commissioner in an interview with Perth Radio Station 6PR on Tuesday.
The images of drones fired by a witness captured a shark that swam away from a large cloud of blood near the shore, he added.
The suspicion of death of man would be the fourth fatal attack of sharks in the area since 2017, two of which was suspected that they were caused by large white sharks, which can grow up to 20 feet long.
