Australia’s batter, Usman, Khawaja, has condemned the decision of a radio station to eliminate the journalist of Cricket Peter Lalor from his coverage of the Sri Lanka test series through publications on social networks related to the conflict Israelí-Palestine.
Australian radio station Sen confirmed on Tuesday that he had separated from Lalor, the former Cricket writer chief The Australian Newspaper, after dialogue with him about some of the comments on his social networks.
The Lalor feed in X includes news about Israeli attacks in Gaza and accusations of level-level genocide in the Israeli government.
Khawaja, born in Pakistan, who has expressed support to the Palestinians, wrote on Instagram that Lalor “deserved better.”
“Defending the people of Gaza is not anti -Semitic or has anything to do with my Jewish brothers and sisters in Australia, but all that do with the Israeli government and their deplorable actions,” Khawaja said.
“It has everything to do with justice and human rights. Unfortunately, hatred towards the Jewish and Muslim community will always exist. ”
Australia has been dealing with a series of anti -Semitic and Islaphobic attacks in places of worship, buildings and cars since the beginning of the invasion of Gaza de Israel at the end of 2010.
The country’s racial discrimination commissioner Giridharan Sivaraman said that Australia is in a “feverish time.”
“Anti -Semitism and Islamophobia are real, they are increasing and are significant concerns,” he said.
