Aurangzeb in US to advance economic cooperation: finance ministry – Pakistan

The Minister of Finance, Muhammad Aurengzeb, met Friday with the United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick and the ambassador of the United States Commerce Representative, Jamieson Greer, in an effort to strengthen commercial ties, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance.

Pakistan and the United States concluded a critical round of commercial negotiations earlier this month, reaching an understanding of an agreement that could shape the future of the country’s key export sectors.

While both parties reached an understanding, a formal announcement is expected only after the United States concludes similar continuous negotiations with other commercial partners.

According to the Ministry of Finance, Aurengzeb had a “productive meeting” with Lutnick and Greer in Washington DC, with both parties satisfied with the progress made to improve commercial ties.

“They (Pakistan and the United States) reaffirmed their commitment to explore opportunities to strengthen these ties in all possible mutual benefit areas,” reads the statement.

“The Minister of Finance, Aurengzeb, emphasized that the United States remains the largest commercial partner of Pakistan and stressed Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation in traditional and non -traditional sectors, including the IT and Technology Sector, minerals and agriculture, to promote a mutually beneficial relationship.”

According to the Ministry of Finance, both parties “expressed optimism” that ongoing commercial conversations would produce positive results and economic benefits for Islamabad and Washington.

The relations between the United States and Pakistan saw a great impulse when Trump was the host of the head of the Army staff of the Army also in the White House last month at an unprecedented meeting.

During the meeting, Trump “praised the continuous efforts of Pakistan for regional peace and stability, and appreciated the robust anti -terrorist cooperation between the two states,” said a statement of public relations between services.

In April, the Pakistan Crypto Council was associated with World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance platform backed by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to advance cryptocurrency requests and boost blockchain adoption.
