At least eight security personnel were martyred in a suicidal explosion in the Waziristan district of the northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, according to a statement issued by the Office of the Main Minister of KP, updating the previous toll of four injured.
According to the statement, KP’s prime minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack, which took place in the area of Mir Ali in Waziristan del Norte, and expressed his condolences and sentences for the martyrdom of the staff.
“I greet the security personnel and their families who have sacrificed their lives for the country and the nation,” Gandapur said.
“The security forces have made unprecedented sacrifices to establish peace in the country and eliminate terrorism,” the CM added. “These sacrifices further increase the resolution and moral of the nation against terrorism.
“Everyone in La Nación are with security forces in the war against terrorism,” the statement concluded.
Previously, Waqar Ahmed said to the District Police officer (DPO) Dawn.com That four civilians were injured in the “suicidal attack” made through an improvised explosive device transmitted by the vehicle.
The attack occurs days after two soldiers were martyred and 11 terrorists were killed during an intelligence -based operation (IBO) in the Waziristan district of southern KP.
On June 15, a soldier from the Border Corps (FC) was martyred in an attack of weapons directed in Ladha Tehsil of the Southern Waziristan district.
Earlier this month, 14 terrorists were killed in the city of Datta Khel of North Waziristan during a security operation.
The militant groups could not significantly increase their activities in the country last month, according to data published by the Institute of Conflicts and Security Studies of Pakistan, which registered 85 attacks in May compared to 81 in April.
