NEW DELHI:Assam BJP He has directed his MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi To apologize to the public after they saw him light opposition members and throw abuses in the state assembly on Friday.
President of the party Dilip Saikia Called their anti -democratic actions and against the values of the party. Kurmi, a former congress leader, has already apologized in the assembly.
Kurmi was seen lunging the opposition members and shouting expletives during an argument. Marshals had to intervene to prevent the situation from intensifying even more. The offensive words were later eliminated from the official records.
The state president of BJP, Dilip Saikia, in a letter to Kurmi, expressed his disappointment for the incident, PTI reported. He said his actions were against the democratic traditions of the Assembly and the BJP values.
“As a member of BJP, we are surprised to see the type of behavior of a superior politician like you,” Saikia wrote. He reminded Kurmi that the BJP follows discipline and tolerance and warned him not to repeat such actions.
Saikia also ordered him to issue a public apology, apart from the one he had already done in the assembly.
Kurmi, who has been a MLA of Mariani’s constituency since 2006, was before with Congress before changing to the BJP in 2021.
