The 2025 Tournament of Asia Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup 2025 will take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, the president of ACC, Mohsin Naqvi announced on Saturday.
In a publication on X, he said: “I am delighted to confirm the dates for the Asia Cup of Men ACC 2025 in the EAU. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9 to 28. We expect a spectacular Cricket exhibition! Soon the detailed schedule will come out.”
The confirmation of the president of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) occurred after the tournament was already expected to be housed in the EAU.
The tournament, originally scheduled to be organized by India in September, was ready to be relocated due to logistics and political challenges, although India is expected to retain the rights of the hosts.
The decision followed the annual general meeting of ACCM (AGM), held in Dhaka on Thursday, attended by the 25 member countries, either physically or virtually.
The Crick Board in India (BCCI), after initially threatening to boycott the meeting due to political tensions with Bangladesh, finally joined the procedures virtually. BCCI vice president, Rajev Shukla, represented the Board at the meeting.
The Asia Cup must conclude before India begins its test series against Western Indies later that month. The EAU, having previously organized the tournament in similar circumstances, had emerged as the most feasible neutral place, particularly in the light of the current tensions between India and Pakistan.
The political tension between the two neighbors, even more intensified by a military shock in May, has made bilateral Cricket commitments more and more difficult.
According to the reports, with the BCCI and the PCB that were not willing to play on the floor of the other, a neutral place like the EAU was seen as a practical commitment, similar to the hybrid model used during the ICC 2025 events and the Asia 2023 Cup.
