Army staff general (COAS), Syed also, said Tuesday that the military would guarantee a solid security framework and proactive measures to protect the interests and confidence of Pakistan’s partners and investors in Baluchistan.
His comments arrived during the Pakistan 2025 Mineral Investment Forum (PMIF25), a two-day event organized by the country to promote mining and mineral investment opportunities in the four provinces, Azad Cashmira and Gilgit-Baltistan. The high -level event will attend around 300 foreign delegates.
According to the State Pakistan television (PTV)The Army Chief said that the military would ensure that a “robust security framework, together with proactive measures, is built to protect the interests and trust of partners and investors who seek to invest in Baluchistan.”
“I firmly believe that Pakistan is ready to emerge as a leader in the global mineral economy,” said the head of the Army, according to PTV news.
He said that the army welcomed international institutions to come and share their experience with Pakistan, explore investment opportunities and associate with the country in the development of their vast resource potential.
“To take advantage of the mineral wealth of Pakistan, mineral wealth, engineers, geologists and many expert miners are needed,” said Coas Munir, adding that the military were also sending students abroad to train to develop the sector.
“Twenty -seven Pakistani students of Baluchistan are training in mineral exploration in Zambia and Argentina,” he said.
He added that Pakistan’s goal was to create labor, experts and human resources for the mineral sector, adding that economic security has become an important component of national security.
“The development of upstream and downstream mineral industries will also be guaranteed in Pakistan,” said the head of the Army.
“It is important that the investment is made in the refining and value of the addition of value in Pakistan to improve the efficiency of profitability and diversify the markets,” he said.
He said that with the vast mineral reserves in the country, experience and a transparent mineral policy, there was no room for despair and inaction.
“Let’s advance and fight for the country and for yourself,” he said.
The military chief assured the partners and investors that it was a collective national desire to benefit from his experience.
“You can count on Pakistan as a reliable partner,” he said.
General Munir also recognized the efforts of Baloch’s tribal elders who have played an important role in promoting mining activities and the development and progress of Baluchistan.
“Working together, the Pakistan mineral sector can promote regional development, prosperity and sustainability for collective benefit,” he said.
Although Pakistan has made efforts to exploit its natural resources and has invited foreign investment in different projects, the security situation in Baluchistan and KP often raises challenges, and foreign citizens are attacked in recent years.
In November last year, a suicide attack near Karachi airport, claimed by the successful Liberation Army of Baluchistan, left two dead Chinese citizens and wounded another ten.
Separately, at least 20 miners were killed and seven were injured in an attack of armed men in a private coal mine in the Duki area of Baluchistan in October.
In March last year, Chinese workers were attacked in Besham, according to reports, Tehreek-I-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or the Islamic-Korasano State (IS-K), resulting in five Chinese deaths.
Five Japanese nationals were unharmed after their vehicle was attacked by a suicide terrorist in Karachi in April last year.
