The Sindh government announced on Saturday that it is launching a five -day polyomyelitis vaccination campaign in the province of May 26 to inoculate more than 10 million children in the province.
Earlier this week, two new cases of polio were reported in the Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which brought the count for the current year to 10.
According to a press release, the campaign aims to immunize more than 10.6 million children under five in the 30 Sindh districts.
“The campaign will take place from May 26 to June 1, 2025 and implies the efforts of more than 80,000 trained polyomyelitis workers who go from door to door with the support of 25,539 law personnel of the law to ensure that no child is lost,” said the statement. “Children between the ages of 6 and 59 months will also receive vitamin A supplements to help increase their immunity.”
According to the press release, this new campaign follows two previous units in February and April. Earlier this week, Sindh’s Prime Minister Murad Ali Shah raised the issue of increased polio cases and expressed the need for collective responsibility and action.
“With the continuous circulation of the virus in some environmental samples and four cases of polio reported in Sindh so far this year, this last round of vaccines reinforces the resolution of the province to interrupt the transmission and protect children from the life consequences of this preventable disease,” reads the press release.
“The polio anywhere is a threat to children everywhere,” he added, citing a spokesman for the emergency operations center (EOC) Sindh. “This campaign reflects our commitment to reach all children, even in the most difficult communities to achieve, and to ensure that Pakistan approaches eradication.”
According to EOC, polyomyelitis teams will be active in 1,292 union tips, supported by district administrations and medical care partners, delivering polio falls and involving families at the door.

Pakistan, one of the only two countries in the world’s polyomyelitis, reported 74 cases in 2024.
Today early, the KP government established a goal of vaccinating approximately 7.3 million children under five years during a five-day anti-political campaign, which also begins on Monday.
The main secretary Shahab Ali Shah inaugurated the campaign during a ceremony at the Servicios Hospital, according to a press release.
