The Amnesty International organization criticized the Pakistani authorities on Tuesday for “not protecting the lives and property of civilians” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the midst of an increase in the alleged attacks of Quadcopter and Drones.
The statement came in response to reports of multiple attacks of this type in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan during the past year. In March, at least 11 people were killed in Mardan in what the locals insisted was a strike of drones, while in May, an alleged fall of ammunition from Quadcopter, claimed the lives of four children and wounded another five in the district of Waziristan, Mir Ali Tehsil. The military clarified that the security forces were “falsely involved” in the incident and that it was carried out by the forbidden Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Last Friday, a child died and another five were injured after an alleged dron hit the southern district of Waziristan, which caused convictions to KP politicians.
“The Pakistani authorities have not been able to take measures to protect the lives and ownership of civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who continue to pay the price of a growing number of drone strikes in the province,” said Amnesty’s statement today, citing the deputy regional director of the group, Isabelle Lassée.
“The use of drones and quadcopters to carry out attacks that result in the illegal murder of civilians violate international law. Reports that strikes have hit houses and volleyball games indicate imprudent contempt for civil life.”
The statement added that Friday’s drone strike was part of an “alarming series of attacks” that have been intensified since March of this year.
“While the Pakistani authorities have often denied the responsibility of these attacks, they are obliged to conduct rapid, independent, transparent and effective investigations about these attacks and take all those responsible to justice through fair judgments.”
Last month, 22 civilians, including children and young people, were injured when an alleged Quadcopter left the ammunition at the Birrmal Tehsil of the lower district of Waziristán del Sur, the authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred near the Karmazi stop on the Wana-Azam Warsak road.
In October last year, up to 13 civilians, mostly children, who received injuries when a quadcopter supposedly left the explosives in a market in Tirah Valley here on Monday, they were brought to hospitals in Peshawar, local sources had said it. Sunrise.
