Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: Joshua Riibes’ passport, an American linked to the disappearance of a student from Pittsburgh University, has been confiscated by the Dominican authorities as part of an ongoing investigation, their lawyers told NBC News.
Riibe could have been the last person to see Sudiksha Konanki, a 20 -year -old girl from Pittsburgh who went to Punta Cana on March 3 with five friends for spring holidays. He was last seen around 4:15 am on March 6 after going to the beach with friends.
Speaking exclusively with NBC News briefly in the complex where Konanki had stayed before his disappearance, Riibe said: “I am only trying to help them,” he added: “The ocean is a dangerous place.”
Riibe “has been confined to the hotel since the investigation began. The police permanently escort him where he goes. So not, he is not free to leave,” said his law firm to NBC News on Saturday.
The National Police of the Dominican Republic did not immediately respond to the request for comments of NBC News.
