Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic began in the quarterfinals of the United States Open on Sunday when the current women’s champion Aryna Sabalenka maintained her defense of the title firmly on the way.
The second Spanish Alcaraz seed and the Djokovic tennis icon, which are on their way to meet in the semifinals, both were recorded in the straight sets in the main court of the Arthur Ashe stadium.
The five-time Grand Slam Alcaraz champion surpassed Arthur Rinderknech 7-6 (7/3), 6-3, 6-4 and has not dropped a set to date in the championships.
“I think my tennis style adapts quite well to energy here in New York,” said the 22 -year -old.
“Energy is special playing the day session, playing the night session. It doesn’t matter, people are always there. I love it and I think that’s why I play my best tennis here,” he added.
Alcaraz will face the twenty -Czech seed Jiri Leheckka in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Leheckka reached the last eight of a Grand Slam for only the second time after fighting against French veteran Adrian Mannarino, winning 7-6 (7/4), 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
Djokovic, 38, continued his last offer for a record title of Single 25 of Grand Slam with a rapid defeat of 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 by Jan-Lennard Alemán Struff not sown.
“It definitely helps if you serve well. I think I had an excellent service performance the last round and also tonight,” said Djokovic.
“That helps to make it easier for the court.” Djokovic faces a quarter of the end on Tuesday against the sown room Taylor Fritz, the lonely American man who went in the draw.
Fritz ran to the last eight with a defeat of 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 of Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic in 1 hour 38 minutes.

“I think the first one, almost seven or eight times that I played it, I was probably not a player good enough to have so much opportunity,” said Fritz.
“I think only the last twice we have played I think I have been this player only that he can, you know, I would say that compete and have opportunities.”
Sabalenka balance
In the female raffle, Sabalenka never seemed worried in a defeat 6-1, 6-4 of the Spanish born in Moldova Cristina Bucsa, occupied the 95th position in the world.
Sabalenka has now reached the quarterfinals or better in 12 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments, a consistency that attributes to achieve a balance in his life on and off the court.
“I am very proud, I think it’s an incredible achievement,” said Sabalenka.
“I think for me the key was to balance life on the court.
Sabalenka faces a quarter of the final against the Vondrousova Marketa of the Czech Republic, the Wimbledon 2023 champion, who bothered the ninth planted Elena Rybakina 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in the late game in Arthur Ashe.
In another female raffle action on Sunday, another former Czech champion, not sown with the France Open and the Wimbledon champion, Barbora Krejcikova, conjured a remarkable escape to overthrow Taylor Towsend, saving eight points of incredible games before digging up a 1-6, 7-6 (15/13), 6-3 victory.
Krejcikova fought for a game point in his own service with 5-4 down on the second set, and then somehow survived seven game points in a passionate tiebreaker to move forward.
“What a game,” said Krejcikova, who revealed that he had wondered if he would ever play tennis after missing the first months of the season with a back injury.
“I was left aside for six months and I didn’t know if I would ever play again. I am very happy to be here.”
Krejcikova will face the fourth American seed Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals.
Pegula, defeated in the final of last year, advanced to the last eight after passing through the compatriot Ann Li 6-1, 6-2 in the court of the Arthur Ashe stadium.
