BC RCMP has arrested a woman from Alberta in the LAM for more than a month after being released from a prison in the Edmonton area.
Alberta RCMP said in a press release that Mackenzie Dawn Hardy, 24, as well as the alleged accomplice, David Joseph Wood, 27, had been arrested in Revelstoke, BC, BC, Thursday.
Hardy had been accused of several crimes, including the possession of stolen property, driving with disabilities, police leak and driving without insurance or registration and was arrested in March by RCMP Red.
The Alberta Crown Prosecutor’s Office said earlier this month that Hardy was released after the personnel of the Fort Saskatchewan’s correctional center, about 40 kilometers northeast of Edmonton, they were shown documents that said their positions stayed, but those documents were false.
According to the press release, RCMP network determined that Wood conspired with Hardy and helped with fraudulent launch. A wood arrest warrant was issued last week.
The couple was arrested after a patrol officer with Revelstoke RCMP observed two people recognized as Hardy and Wood moving away from a stolen vehicle, police said.
In addition to Hardy’s pending orders, she has also been accused of escaping legal custody, police said.
Wood has been accused of helping to escape a prisoner, identity fraud and pronounce a falsified document.
A woman who identifies as Hardy published videos on the Tiktok social networks, where she mocks the police and denied that the documents were false.
“As was ‘in the LAM’, it was quite active on social media platforms, being very vocal about how it was outside and leaving the law,” said RCMP CPL spokesman. Troy Savinkoff in an interview.
Savinkoff said it was important for RCMP to arrest Hardy in a timely manner.
“It is really not advisable when you leave the law to make fun of the police,” he said.
Both Hardy and Wood have been taken before a peace judge and detained, police said.
They will be taken back to Alberta, where they will be taken before the courts with respect to the dates of the future court.
