Air Canada suspends operations as flight attendants go on strike

Air Canada has suspended the operations, since more than 10,000 of its hostesses were strike on Saturday early after the airline and the union failed to reach an agreement before the deadline.

All Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge operations have been canceled. Air Canada Express flights, which are operated by third -party airlines, are not affected.

The airline says that some 130,000 clients will be affected every day that the strike continues and that about 25,000 Canadians can be stranded abroad daily. Air Canada operates around 700 flights a day.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) gave a 72 -hour strike notice on Wednesday after midnight. Air Canada responded shortly after saying that he would block workers, and began to score the operations on Thursday with a gradual suspension of flights.

In a statement published on social networks, he said he urged them to “work harder” to reach an agreement “once and for all.”

“It is unacceptable that so few progress have been made. Canadians have both parties to present their best efforts,” Hajdu said on the X Social Network Platform.
