Mayor Eric Adams: ‘Research of active shooters in the center of Manhattan’
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in X that there is an active handles investigation in center of Manhattan.
“New Yorkers: There is an active handle investigation in Midtown at this time,” Adams wrote. “Take the appropriate safety precautions if it is close and it does not come out if it is close to Park Avenue and East 51st Street.”
Around 345 Park Ave.
The 345 Park Ave. by Midtown Manhattan, the location of the reported shooting incident, is the headquarters of the Blackstone investment firm.
The building also houses the headquarters of the NFL and a Bank of America branch, as well as offices belonging to KPMG.
Blackstone, KPMG, Bank of America and the owner of the building, Rudin Management, did not immediately respond to comments requests.
Police saw stopping and looking inside the cars of the nearby scene
The officers near the closed area of the center of Manhattan in an active shooter report have been stopping the cars and looking inside, NBC New York and the video video showed.
The Lexington Avenue video showed that a police officer stopped a yellow taxi SUV, that the windows get off and look at the driver’s front passenger seat and the rear seats with flashlight.
FBI responding to the shooting in New York City
The FBI agents responded to the shooting in the center of the city of Manhattan, said the deputy director of the office, Don Bongino, in X.
“The staff and agents of the FBI field office in New York are responding to provide support in the active crime scene in Manhattan,” he said.
Police on the scene keeping people back, tell NBC New York ‘Active shooter scene’
A New York reporter on the scene said in the air that the police kept journalists and others back from the scene.
“We are just one block from 52th Street, and that is because the police keep people quite behind, telling me that this is an active scene of the shooter,” said Ida Ida Siegal on Air.
During the report, the police shouted and warned the crew and others that moved further back.
A police officer and a civil shot, the sources say
At least one police officer and a civilian have received a shot tonight within 345 Park Ave., two senior officials in New York City said to NBC News.
Its conditions are unknown.
NYPD warns people to avoid the area
The New York Police Department shortly before 7 PM warned people to avoid the area due to police activity.
“Due to police activity, avoid the neighborhood of EAST 52 Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue. Wait emergency vehicles and surrounding delays,” said NYPD X account.
The official emergency notification system of the city issued a similar notice.
Active shooting incident reported in Park Avenue
Tonight an active shooting incident was reported in New York City.
At least one person, possibly a police officer, was shot in 345 Park Ave., who houses several multinational companies, told NBC News, two senior officials of the New York city law.
