The former Democratic representative Abigail Spanberger is launching his first television announcement of the governor of Virginia 2025, detailing his background while increasing his campaign in one of the most observed elections of the year.
“Too many politicians speak when they should listen and divide instead of joining. It is enough,” says Spanberger in the 60 -second place, first shared with NBC News. He also highlights his experience in the CIA and his time in Congress, emphasizing his work with both parties.
Virginia is one of the two states, together with New Jersey, with the governor’s careers this year, and both will be seen as early indicators of the political environment before the mid-period elections of 2026. Spanberger faces the Lieutenant Republican governor Winsome Earle-Sears, since none of the parties has a primary disputed for the nomination.
Spanberger’s new announcement will be broadcast in the Richmond and Norfolk media markets, and his campaign is spending $ 141.00 so far in the purchase of ads, which carries the advertising expense of the campaign to $ 643,000, according to the adimpact advertisement firm.
In the announcement, Spanberger undertakes to “work to reduce costs, let people keep more of their money and make Virginia schools the best of the nation”, and added that she is the mother of three girls who attend public schools. The announcement also briefly refers to the coverage of local news of unemployment claims in Virginia “shooting”, since the Trump administration has reduced the size of the federal government. The layoffs could be a problem in the governor’s career, since Commonwealth is the home of dozens of federal workers.
Earle-Sears has already reached waves, after spent $ 873,000 so far in two television ads also promoting their background. His last place launched on Wednesday, detailing his service in Los Marines and his work with the governor of the Republican Party Glenn Youngkin, who cannot apply for re -election due to the term limits.
“If you want another typical politician, look at Washington, but if you want a United States sailor who always fights for Virginia. I would feel honored to have your vote,” says Earle-Sears in the announcement.
Democrats have found success at the federal level in Virginia in recent elections, but the governor’s career is expected to be competitive. Trump lost the Commonwealth for 6 percentage points in November, an improvement of 4 points on its margin of 2020. Youngkin won his first mandate in 2021 for 2 points.
