Nueva Delhi: The leader of the AAM AADMI Party (AAP), Atishi, presented his resignation as the main minister of Delhi to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena at the Raj Niwas, after the overwhelming defeat of his party in the elections of the Assembly.
The 43 -year -old leader served as the main minister of Delhi since September 2024. He was elevated to the upper position after AAP’s national coordinator Arvind Kejriwal resigned as CM.
She was the third woman cm of the national capital after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit.
Atishi emerged as the silver lining for AAP when he obtained the victory of the Kalkaji seat, while BJP swept his power party in the elections of the Delhi 2025 assembly. He won against the BJP candidate, Ramesh Bidhuri, by a margin of 3,521 in a hard contest.
BJP won a historical mandate in Delhi, returning to power after 27 years. On the other hand, AAP witnessed a great fall of his previous account from 62 to only 22 seats in Delhi’s surveys.
Earlier on Saturday, Atishi admitted AAP’s defeat and recognized his individual victory from Kalkaji’s seat, promising to continue fighting BJP.
