The 18 -year -old Canadian tennis feeling fell to his knees after Osaka fired the network when a strident house full of cheers broke out on the central court of the IGA stadium.

Such a noisy crowd, the referee repeatedly asked fans who “please shut up during the points.”

Mboko became the third Canadian to capture the title in the hometown tournament in the open era, joining Bianca Andreescu (2019) and Faye Urban (1969), and the first to do so in Montreal.

Now he will go up to the 25th place in the world ranking of female single, a surprising ascent after starting the year outside the Top 300.
