A bullet hit the office of the coach of the Kansas City bosses, Andy Reid, in a night incident that the team kept secret for more than 15 months, authorities said Thursday.
Police were called to the team’s training installation at a short distance from the Geha field at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, at 1:27 AM May 4, 2024, as shown in the police records.
“When the officers arrived, the security during the night told them that someone in the building warned them of listening to a noise and observed what seemed to be a bullet hole in a window,” the police sergeant. Phil Dimartino said in a statement.
The building “was occupied at the time of the bullet that entered through the window”, but no one was “beaten, and there were no injuries associated with the incident,” Dimartino said.
There have been no arrests.
“There are no indications that this was an objective incident in any person or organization,” Dimartino said.
The incident had not been publicly revealed until Kansas City’s star reported it on Thursday.
The president of the bosses, Mark Donovan, said that the franchise is committed to the safety of employees and fans. He said he believed that the prudent measure should remain silent about the incident.
“We sat down with the experts on both the research side, as on the communication side, as well as next to security, and we decided that this was the right way,” Donovan told reporters at an annual business lunch that celebrates the start of the season.
Reid, 67, is one of the most successful coaches in the history of NFL.
With 273-146-1, he is the most winning active coach in the NFL and number 4 in the victories of the regular season of all time, just following Don Shula, George Halas and Bill Belichick.
The shooting incident occurred during the low season of the NFL, with the chiefs almost three months retired from their 25-22 victory in the Super Bowl over the San Francisco 49ers and four months before the start of the regular season.
The Victoria’s parade of the Super Bowl of the Chiefs on February 14 of last year was tarnished by shots at a short distance.
The DJ Lisa López-Galvan, who was co-elanfitrion of a weekly radio program at the Kkfi 90.1 local station called “A Taste of Tejano”, was killed.
