Gananoque police charge Scarborough resident found with $50K worth of cocaine


Police in eastern Ontario have charged a Toronto resident who was allegedly in possession of hundreds of grams of cocaine earlier this month.

Gananoque Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected of transporting drugs on Dec. 13, according to a news release.

A search completed with the assistance of K9 led to the discovery of a hidden compartment inside the vehicle.

Police seized approximately 454 grams of cocaine with a street value of $48,500. They also took a loaded .40 caliber handgun and $1,165 in cash.

A 27-year-old suspect from Scarborough was arrested on several firearms and drug charges.

They were detained for a bail hearing.

Gananoque is located approximately 170 kilometers southwest of Ottawa.
