The Indian soldiers killed two combatants in Kashmiro occupied by India (Iok) along the border with Pakistan while trying to cross the part occupied by the India of the territory, the Army said on Friday.
On Thursday night an “intense and heavy shooting” was activated between the soldiers and the “infiltrated terrorists” near the control line, said the body of white knights of the Indian army in a statement on social networks.
Night fighting led “to the neutralization of two terrorists,” the statement said, referring to the alleged combatants.
Weapons and “war shops” recovered from the site, said the army, but it was not clear if the bodies of the murdered combatants were also recovered.
The incident could not be verified independently.
India has a permanent deployment of more than half a million soldiers in the territory in dispute, and the groups have fought a struggle for self -determination for decades.
The fighting has decreased since 2019, when the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi imposed direct control of the New Delhi territory after canceling its partial autonomy.
But last year, thousands of additional troops, including special forces, were deployed in the mountain areas of the South after a series of mortal attacks that left more than 50 soldiers dead in three years.
India regularly accuses Pakistan of supporting and assembling the fighters, an affirmation that Pakistan has repeatedly denied.
