British Columbia conservation officials say they have called off the search for a bear responsible for an attack on a group of schoolchildren in Bella Coola, British Columbia, on November 20.
The news comes after forensic analysis determined that four grizzly bears captured this week, one adult female and three juveniles, were linked to the attack, which left three children and a teacher seriously injured while on a school field trip.
In total, eight bears were captured and examined while officers searched for the person responsible. All of them are being relocated outside the community.
But, as the service says in a social media update, with no new bear sightings and with grizzly bears entering denning season, “they are no longer actively attempting to capture bears and equipment has been removed.”
