A southern Ontario resident has been charged for allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer during a towing incident in northwestern Ontario earlier this year.
At approximately 11:30 pm on April 26, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a car collision on Highway 17 in the town of Machin.
“Through the investigation, it was learned that the towing company that responded to the scene was not the towing company sent by police,” the OPP press release reads.
Upon further investigation, members of the Dryden OPP detachment determined that the tow company present posed as law enforcement officers to be sent to the scene instead of the original tow company police sent.
As a result, a 41-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on January 20.
