Former Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani passes away

PPP leader and former Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani passed away on Wednesday, according to a statement by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

In a statement issued by the Sindh CM House, Shah expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Durrani. Murad called Durrani “a sincere, loyal and principled party leader and said he played an important role in strengthening the Sindh Assembly and stabilizing democracy.”

“Agha Siraj Durrani made public service the lynchpin of his politics,” he said, expressing his condolences to the bereaved family.

“The services of late Agha Siraj Durrani will always be remembered,” he said.

President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed his “deep sorrow” over the demise of Durrani.

“The President paid tribute to his political and public services, highlighting his role in strengthening democracy and service to the people of Sindh,” a Presidency post on the X social media platform read.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab also expressed grief over Durrani’s death, calling him an “honorable man who supported the PPP and its leaders during the most difficult times.”
