Dolly Parton spoke after her sister generated generalized concern for the health of the legendary singer amid the postponement of a series of live shows, insisting that “he is not yet dead!”
In a video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, Parton explained that he was working on commercials for Grand Ole Opry and wanted to reassure people, providing fans an update about their health.
“Everyone thinks I am more sick than I am. Do I look ill? I’m working hard here!”, Added the 79 -year -old singer in the video entitled “I’m not dead yet!”
Public concern emerged on Tuesday afternoon, when his younger sister, Freido Parton, published that he had been “wake up all night praying for my sister Dolly.”
“She is strong, she is loved and with all the prayers raised by her, I know in my heart that it will be fine,” Freido Parton added.
The publication generated news coverage and attracted almost 4,000 comments and 19,000 actions on Facebook, in large part of fans worried about the 79 -year -old country, which later led Freido Parton to clarify their comments on Tuesday night.
“I want to clarify something. I didn’t want to scare anyone or make it seemed so serious when I asked for prayers for Dolly,” he said.
“She has been a little sick and simply asked for prayers because I firmly believe in the power of prayer. She was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her older sister. Thank you all for helping her. Her love really makes a difference.”
In Wednesday’s video, Parton said he appreciated concern and prayers and pointed out that he has “some problems, as I mentioned.” Parton explained that after the death of her husband Carl in May, she did not take care of himself and “let many things pass from which he should have occupied.”
“When I started, the doctor said we had to take care of this and that,” Parton explained in the video. “Nothing important, but I had to cancel some things to be closer to home and closer to Vanderbilt, you know, where I am receiving some treatments here and there.
Last month, Parton announced that it would postpone its residence in Las Vegas on September 29 due to “some health problems” that would require “some procedures.”
“As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 -mile check -up, although it is not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” added Parton.
Las Vegas shows were scheduled to be held at the Colosseum theater of Caesars Palace between December 4 and 13. They have been reprogrammed for September next year and tickets already bought will be valid for those shows.
At that time, Parton said I could work on projects from Nashville, but that I could not rehearse for live shows. He stressed that there was no possibility that he left music, “because God has not said anything about stopping doing it yet.”
“I am not ready to die yet. I do not think that God has finished with me and I have not finished working,” Parton concluded in the video.
