PM Shehbaz to depart for three-day Malaysia visit tomorrow

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will carry out a three -day visit to Malaysia at the invitation of his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, from October 5 to 7, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) said on Saturday.

In a statement, the FO said that a high -level delegation comprising the prime minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, and other federal ministers and senior government officials will leave on Sunday.

“The visit reflects the strong and lasting strategic association between Pakistan and Malaysia, rooted in mutual respect, shared interests and close cooperation in a wide range of sectors,” reads the statement.

According to the FO, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold bilateral conversations with the Prime Minister of Malaysia Ibrahim and will discuss key regional and global developments, as well as improve bilateral cooperation in commerce, IT and telecommunications, halal industry, investment, education, energy, infrastructure, digital economy and people with people.

“The leaders are expected to witness the signing of agreements/MOU for cooperation in several existing and new sectors,” reads the statement.

Earlier this month, the Malaysian High Commissioner in Pakistan Data ‘Mohammad Azhar Mazlan said there is a large part of the community and the potential for bilateral exchanges between Kuala Lumpur and Islamabad.

“Malaysia is proud of his association with Pakistan since August 31, 1957, when we won independence. Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize Malaysia as a nation. Judge Abdul Hamid of Pakistan also helped Malaysia write its constitution,” Mazlan said in an event in Karachi.
