Yukon’s territorial electoral campaign will officially begin on Friday.
Prime Minister Mike Pemberton says he will ask the Yukon Adeline Webber commissioner to dissolve the Legislative Assembly and establish the territorial elections for November 3. Pemberton made the announcement in Carcross on Thursday, along with a handful of liberal candidates.
Pemberton’s liberals are looking for a third term with an almost new list of candidates this time. All but one of the MLA of the party at the party decided not to run again. It is also Pemberton’s first campaign after assuming the party leader earlier this year.
Pemberton said his party wanted to announce Carcross elections to demonstrate a commitment to rural problems.

Pemberton, former vice president of the party and political candidate for the first time, won the liberal leadership career in June.
