Four policemen among nine injured in Peshawar blast: official

At least nine people, including four law personnel, were injured in an explosion near the Bani Mara de Peshawar area on Thursday, police said.

Peshawar Capital City Police officer (CCPO), Dr. Mian Saeed, confirmed these details for Dawn.comadding that the police were attacked in the incident. “The initial investigation shows that the device that caused the explosion was planted on the route of a police mobile,” he added.

The CCPO added that the condition of one of the injured was serious. Rescue services transferred the injured to a nearby medical center after the attack.

He said the police were investigating whether the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device or not.

The statements issued by their office said that five of the injured were civilians and four were police officers.

After the explosion, a great contingent of security forces reached the site of the incident and cordoned off the area.

Separately, said the major police superintendent of the city, Operation Masood Bangash Dawn.com that the law agents were investigating the incident and evidence of the explosion site was being collected.

The explosion occurs less than two months after two people died and another 20, including police officers, were injured in a bomb explosion aimed at a police vehicle in the Wana Tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the lower district of the southern Waziristan.

In another incident in Baluchistan in July, three police officers were injured in an attack against a road police vehicle in the Nasirabad district of Baluchistan.
