Islamabad: A petition has been presented in the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) that challenges the alleged inflammatory positions made of the official account X of the founder of PTI Imran Khan during his imprisonment.
The petition was presented by the citizen Ghulam Murtaza Khan through the lawyer of the lawyer Zafarullah Khan, stating that the dissemination of “provocative and malicious” content of the account of a condemned prisoner is illegal and contrary to the penitentiary rules.
The petitioner asked the Court to order the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and the Telecommunications Authority of Pakistan (PTA) to carry out an exhaustive investigation to determine who has been operating the account of the PTI founder while he remains imprisoned.
The petition requested addresses to block and eliminate said content of social media platforms.
He also asked the court to instruct the prison superintendent to ensure that the prisoner does not have allowed to access or operate social networks in violation of prison regulations, which qualifies said “unconstitutional and illegal” activity.
In addition, the petitioner asked the court to restrict PTI to redistribute or promote any publication originated from the founder’s account during his prison.
