China says Nvidia violated anti-monopoly law

China’s market regulator said on Monday that Nvidia violated the country’s antimonopoolio law, according to preliminary investigation, added that Beijing would continue his research on the United States chips giant.

Nvidia’s shares fell around 2% in trade prior to the market.

At the end of last year, the State Market Administration of China (SAMR) opened an investigation into NVIDIA in relation to the acquisition of Mellanoox and some agreements made during the acquisition.

Nvidia acquired the Israeli technology company that creates network solutions for data and server centers in 2020, in an agreement that was approved by China at that time with certain conditions.

In a preliminary investigation, the Samr said that Nvidia had violated China’s antitrust laws in relation to that acquisition and its conditions.
