Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan arrived in Tehran on Sunday for an official three -day visit to boost economic relations between Pakistan and Iran, according to a press release from the Ministry of Commerce.
Pakistan and Iran share nearby ties and have signed multiple agreements in sectors such as energy and commerce.
According to the press release, Khan is expected to lead the Joint Economic Commission and the Pakistan-Iran Business Forum during his visit.
“It was received at Imam Khomeini International Airport by Mr. Amin Tarfa’A, an advisor to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran,” reads the press release.
“During the visit, [Khan] He will direct the 22nd session of the Joint Economic Commission of Pakistan and Iran and co-chair in the Pakistan-Iran Joint Business Forum. It is also scheduled to hold meetings with key Iranian ministers and senior officials to strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation. “
The visit of Khan aims to give a new boost to economic and commercial ties between the two nations through the Joint Economic Commission and the Business Forum, the Ministry of Commerce declared.
In August, Iranian President Masoud Peeshkian visited Pakistan, where they signed 12 agreements and comprehension memorandes (MOU).
During the bilateral meeting, both parties discussed the general aspects of their bilateral ties, fraternal relations, religious and cultural ties, and held comprehensive conversations to boost them even more.
“The agreements and the MOU included cooperation for the protection of plants and the quarantine of plants, the joint use of Mirjaveh-Taftan Border Gate, collaboration in science, technology and innovation, cooperation in information and communications technology.” Pakistan radio reported.
