No need to temper aggression, captains say before Pakistan-India Asia Cup clash

The captain of Pakistan, Salman Agha, and his Indian counterpart, Suryakumar Yadav, will not tell their teammates to modify the aggression when the archi-rival chocen in a contest of the Male Asia Cup with geopolitical load in Dubai on Sunday.

It will be the first Cricket match between the sides from four days of military conflict among neighbors with nuclear weapons in May this year.

Although the players on both sides have shared cordial relationships over the years despite geopolitical realities, both captains were asked if they would instruct their players to reduce their aggression, considering the broader context.

“You do not need to say anything to any player because each individual is different,” said a relaxed appearance in the media interaction prior to the captains tournament in Dubai on Tuesday.

“If someone wants to be aggressive in the field, it is more than welcome to do so.

“When it comes to fast bowling players, they are always aggressive and you cannot stop them because that is what keeps them underway.

“Then, from my side, there are no instructions for anyone whenever I remain on the ground.”

While the Indian Captain Suryakumar said: “The aggression (is) always there when we go out to the field.

“Without (some degree of) aggression, I don’t think you can practice sport. I am really excited to wear the field.”

The tournament trophy was also presented by the president of ACC, Mohsin Naqvi, in a ceremony with team captains before the first meeting of the tournament today between Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

While the reigning of T20 World Champions India are the firm favorites to retain its title, Pakistan is at the top, since it has defeated Afghanistan in the final of a Tri-Serie series, which also involves the United Arab Emirates hosts, on Sunday.

India has not played T20 Internationals since the local series against England in February, but Suryakumar did not call her little cooked team.

“Well, if your preparations are great, then certainly trust when you take the field,” he said.

“Yes, we are playing after a long time, but we arrived here three days ago, and we had a good time as a team together. I’m really anxious for this tournament.”
