Another May 9 riots case: Lahore ATC acquits PTI’s SMQ, hands down 10-year jail term to Yasmin Rashid and Ejaz Chaudhry – Pakistan

An anti -terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore acquitted the former Foreign Minister Shah MahmoD Qureshi on Tuesday, while sentenced Yasmin Rashid, Chaudhry ejaz already another 10 years in prison during another case of disturbances on May 9, belonging to the burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House.

After the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan on May 9, 2023, of the facilities of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC), the disturbances exploded throughout the country and continued for at least 24 hours. The protesters destroyed and set fire to government buildings and military facilities, while entering the residence of the commander of Lahore’s body. The lawyer mudassar confirmed the development to Dawn.comSaying that ATC judge, Manzer Ali Gill, acquitted Qureshi, while Rashid, Chaudhry, Mihmoodur Rasheed and former Punjab governor, Omar Sarfraz Chema, were sentenced to 10 years in prison in the case.

He added that PTI’s activist and fashion designer, Khadija Shah, was also sentenced to five years in prison in the case, adding that a total of 51 defendants were involved in the case, with 12 declared fugitives and the 39 completed trial.

Today’s judicial procedures occur after other similar absolute for the former diplomat and sentences for PTI leaders in multiple cases of May 9.
